Probably the most popular card game in the world, Poker is played by a group of people around a table. The players are dealt five cards, and the highest-ranking hand wins the pot. The main characteristic of this game is bluffing.<\/p>\n
The game starts with the dealer, who will shuffle the deck, and deal one card face up to each player. Then, each player is given the opportunity to make a bet. The bet can be a forced bet, such as an ante, or a blind bet, where the player is betting on a single card without knowing what other cards will be dealt.<\/p>\n
The player to the left of the dealer, known as the player to the left, has the right to raise or call a bet. If the player to the left folds, he loses any chips in the pot.<\/p>\n
The first round of betting begins with a bet of at least one chip. Each subsequent player must match the bet. If no other player calls, the hand is said to be a “showdown” and the pot is awarded to the player who has the highest hand.<\/p>\n
In the second and third rounds of betting, the player to the left of the dealer has the option of “calling”, raising, or folding. The first player to the left, the “first bettor”, has the right to bet the minimum in each betting interval.<\/p>\n
