Poker is a game of cards played between two or more players. The game may involve betting rounds. The player with the highest ranked hand of cards wins the pot (all the bets placed during that round). The game has different variants and rules vary slightly.<\/p>\n
Players are required to make forced bets \u2013 either an ante or blind bet \u2013 before being dealt their cards. The player on their chair to the right cuts the deck, and the dealer deals each player one card at a time. These cards may be face up or face down. Betting is done by saying \u201craise\u201d or \u201ccall\u201d. When a player says raise, the other players can choose to call the new bet or fold. If they don\u2019t call the new bet, the player can still say check to continue playing.<\/p>\n
During the betting rounds, players use their two hidden cards (hole) in combination with the five community cards to form their hands. The players then choose the best five cards to win the hand.<\/p>\n
In some cases, players will bluff in order to increase the value of their hand. This can be risky and it can backfire if other players catch on to the bluff.
