Poker is a card game played by two or more players and is typically played for money. It is a game of chance, but with the introduction of betting it becomes a game of skill and psychology as well.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of a hand of Poker, players each buy in for a set amount of chips (the exact value of a chip varies by game). These are placed into a pot in the center of the table and the highest hand wins the pot. Players are able to fold during the course of a hand if they feel that their cards are not good enough.<\/p>\n
When it is a player’s turn to bet, they can either call or raise. If they raise, the other players must call the raised bet and place an equal amount of chips or cash in the pot. When a player calls, they must match the bet of the player to their right in the betting order.<\/p>\n
Once the betting is complete on each street, the dealer reveals a fifth community card, known as the river. After the river is dealt, there is one final round of betting before players show their hands. The best five card poker hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
When poker ties, the high card rule is used to break them. This is any card higher than a pair, three of a kind, straight, or flush. If no hands qualify as high cards, the highest card in a full house wins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
