How to Stay Calm When Playing Poker
The game of Poker involves betting and revealing one’s cards in order to form a winning hand. Players can choose to discard one or more of their cards, or hold them. Each player puts an initial amount of money into the pot, which is called the ante or blinds, depending on the game rules. Once everyone has decided on their action, the players reveal their hands. Then the round of betting is over and the winner is declared.
A GOOD POKER PLAYER NEVER BLEATS WITH NOTHING
When holding a weak poker hand, you need to know when to fold. However, it’s a mistake to always fold. A confident bluff can often get you further than a strong starting hand at the tables, as well as in life.
A GOOD POKER STAYS CALM WHEN THERE’S TROUBLE AT THE TABLE
There was once a dealer whose name we shall omit, but he was awful. He dealt the cards too slowly, mis-dealt hands, awarded pots to the wrong person, and generally ruined gameplay. His mistakes were a constant source of irritation to the table, but he didn’t deserve to be kicked off the table for being a jackass.
It’s important to keep the pot clear by not stacking or piling the cards as they are passed around the table. This makes it easier to reconstruct a hand when it’s time to make a bet. Moreover, it also prevents other players from making bad calls and raising their hands too early in the pot.
